Ski rentals at Ski and Sport Shack start at $45/day for a full ski package — skis, boots, and poles included. We rent skis, snowboards, cross-country gear, snowshoes, and snowblades by the day or by the season from our shop in Stoneham, serving skiers across the North Shore and Greater Boston.

How Ski Rental Works
Three steps from the shop to the slopes — no appointments, no hassle.
Reserve
Call us at (781) 279-1990 or stop by the shop. We'll need your height, weight, shoe size, and ability level. Reservations aren't required, but they guarantee your size is waiting.
Get Fitted
Our staff selects the right ski or board length, sets your binding DIN based on weight and skill level, and adjusts boots for a snug, comfortable fit. About 20 minutes total.
Hit the Slopes
Pick up your gear after 1:00 PM the day before your ski day — at no extra charge. Return by 5:00 PM the day after. Maximum time on the mountain.

Every daily ski rental includes free same-day equipment swaps if something doesn't feel right on the hill. Breakage insurance is required on all rentals.

Ski Package ($45/day): Our standard packages use well-maintained, recent-model-year equipment suited to beginner and intermediate skiers. We size your skis based on height and ability and set bindings to your weight and skill level.

Demo Ski Package ($65/day): Current-season, top-tier skis from brands like Rossignol, Volkl, and Head. Built for intermediate-to-advanced skiers who want to test high-performance gear. Boots not included — bring your own or rent a pair separately for $15/day. A $650 refundable deposit is required.
Cross-Country Ski Package ($30/day): Skis, boots, and poles, sized for classic-style touring.
Snowshoes ($15/day): Snowshoes only. Add poles for $5/day. Helmets rent for $10/day across all packages — adult and kids' sizes available.
Seasonal Ski Rentals — 2025–2026
Ski more than a few weekends? A seasonal lease saves real money. Gear stays with you from pickup through April 15th. A seasonal adult ski package costs $279.98 — less than four weekend trips at the 2-day rate ($75 each).

Seasonal rentals require a refundable security deposit (returned when gear comes back in good condition) and breakage insurance. All seasonal gear must be returned by April 15th. Late returns are charged $15/day for up to 15 days; after that, the full security deposit is forfeited.

Rent-to-Buy: Try Before You Commit
Not sure if skiing or snowboarding is going to stick? Our Rent-to-Buy program lets you take a seasonal rental package for the full winter and decide later.
Rent your gear for the season at the standard seasonal rate. If you want to keep it, come in before April 15th and we'll credit your full rental payment toward the purchase price. You pay the difference plus tax. If you don't want to keep it, return it — no pressure, no extra cost.
Built for first-timers who aren't ready to invest in their own gear, and parents whose kids are growing fast. Either way, you get the full season to decide.
Kids & Family Ski Rentals
Junior ski rental packages start at $159.98/season for kids under 120cm, and $179.98/season for kids 120–160cm. Daily junior rates match our adult pricing — the same $45/day ski package, same $50/day snowboard package.
Kids grow fast. Our Junior Seasonal Lease means you pick up gear in November and return it in April without worrying about resale or storage. If your child outgrows a size mid-season, bring the gear back and we'll swap it at no charge.
Helmets are available for $10/day or $30/season. We carry kids' sizes. All renters under 18 need a parent or guardian signature on the rental form.
Growing out of rental gear? Our Junior Trade-In program gives you 50% credit in the first year, 30% in year two, and 20% in year three toward the next size up. Buy new, trade up later.

Pickup & Return
Pick up after 1:00 PM the day before your rental starts. Return by 5:00 PM the day after your rental ends.
Identification
Valid driver's license required. Renters must be 18+, or have a parent/guardian sign the rental form.
Breakage Insurance
Required on all rentals. Covers accidental damage during normal use. Does not cover lost or stolen equipment. $1/day standard, $2/day demo.
Security Deposits
Seasonal rentals require a refundable deposit. Returned when gear comes back on time and in good condition. Forfeited for non-returned, lost, or stolen equipment.
Seasonal Return Deadline
All seasonal gear due by April 15th. Late returns: $15/day for 15 days, then full deposit forfeited.
Payment
Seasonal rentals must be paid in full at the time of reservation.

What's included in a ski rental package?
Our standard ski package includes skis, boots, and poles. Snowboard packages include the board and boots. Helmets, goggles, and clothing are not included but helmets can be rented separately for $10/day. Breakage insurance ($1/day) is required on all rentals.
Do ski rentals come with boots?
Yes. Every ski package and snowboard package includes boots fitted to your shoe size. The one exception is our Demo Ski package, which includes skis only — you'll need to bring your own boots or rent a pair separately for $15/day.
Do ski rentals include helmets?
Helmets are not included in any rental package. You can add a helmet for $10/day or $30/season. We carry adult and kids' sizes. We recommend helmets for all skiers and riders, and strongly recommend them for children.
Do I need a reservation?
No. Walk-ins are welcome. A reservation guarantees your size and preferred package are ready when you arrive, which is especially helpful on busy weekends and holiday weeks. Call (781) 279-1990 to reserve.
Can I pick up rental equipment the day before?
Yes. Pick up your gear anytime after 1:00 PM the day before your rental starts, at no extra charge. This way you're ready to go first thing in the morning without a stop at the shop.
What is breakage insurance and is it required?
Breakage insurance is mandatory on all rentals. It covers accidental damage and breakage during normal use — a cracked ski edge, a broken buckle, a dinged board. It does not cover lost or stolen equipment. The cost is $1/day for standard rentals, $2/day for demo gear.
